There’s a lot going on this week!

First, on June 8th it is World Ocean Day! We love our ocean and can always do more for it. You don’t have to join a conservancy program to help you can do a few things on your own and make a difference (so true about much of life). Please make sure you pack out all your trash including cigarette butts. Although we aren’t in the tropics getting reef friendly sunscreen is a good step too. Be responsible with your fishing gear, the ocean is not a trash bin. Enjoy the beach and respect the ocean.

Next, June 9th is National movie night. Support local theatres and treat yourself to a big screen experience, popcorn and all!

June 10th, National Iced Tea Day! This is where we come in. The Front Porch brews a great cup of iced tea. Whether you want traditional Southern Sweet Tea or to try something new, come by and celebrate a drink that is more popular in the United States than any where else in the world! Front Porch has so many great choices to try so come expand your iced tea world.

Finally, June 11th National Corn on the Cob Day! In this blogger’s spare time she helps out at Tarheel Too, our local produce stand…shucking corn! So this day has special meaning. Corn is soooo delicious and is a good source of potassium, vitamin C and fiber. Boiling your corn is not the best way to cook it in order to reap maximum nutritional benefits so throw it on the grill, pop it in the microwave or roast it in the oven and enjoy a fresh cob or two.

So, make sure your calendar is cleared for these great events, so you have a
fun way to spend your week. Enjoy!
